Eyebrow Transplant vs Eyebrow Tattoo

1. A single eyebrow transplant can last a lifetime, making it a worthwhile investment. Eyebrow transplantation creates a virtual appearance by mimicking real hair, which prevents it from looking fake.
2. In men, eyebrow tattooing often results in unnatural outcomes because it involves drawing lines instead of replicating real hairs. Since men typically do not wear makeup to cover their eyebrows, these tattoos are more noticeable. In contrast, eyebrow tattooing in women tends to produce more natural results, as women often use makeup to define their eyebrows.
3. Additionally, eyebrow tattooing requires touch-ups every 3 to 5 years. This entails removing the old tattoo before applying a new one, leading to ongoing costs. If a low-quality removal method is used, it may result in the loss of actual eyebrow hairs.

Preparing for eyebrow transplant

2. Stop taking vitamin supplements such as fish oil, ginkgo, vitamin E, ginseng, and garlic 1 month before hair transplant
3. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking 2 weeks prior to eyebrow transplant

Steps of eyebrow transplantation

Step 1: Eyebrow design

• The doctor designs the eyebrow line together with the patient, based on the principle of virtual shape, and is most suitable for the patient’s facial structure, gender, age, and needs
• Measure the area and calculate the graphs required for eyebrow planting

Step 2: Prepare before eyebrow planting

• Wash your hair and cleanse your scalp with an antibacterial solution

Step 3: Drill the hair roots at the back

• The doctor will inject local anesthesia into the area where the hair roots will be transplanted
• Drill the hair roots with a special hair root drill that can drill long hair roots. Use a small drill head of 0.6-0.8 millimeters, drill evenly, making the wound small, smooth, and recover quickly. It takes about 2-3 hours, depending on the number of grafts

Step 4: Graph cutting under a microscope by the medical team

After eyebrow transplantation

1. Sleeping after eyebrow transplantation: You should sleep on your back, do not sleep on your stomach/side. When sleeping, you should use a rolled-up towel under your neck under the elastic bandage on your head to support the wound so that it does not touch the pillow and sleep with your head slightly elevated
2. After 2 weeks, you can sleep normally. You should not bend your head down to pick up things or put on shoes.
3. If there is a lot of bleeding at the eyebrow transplant site, the graft may fall out. Use a clean gauze to press on the bleeding area for 3-5 minutes. If it does not stop, press again for another 5-10 minutes. If it does not stop, call your doctor or nurse.
4. After eyebrow transplantation, you may experience swelling in the upper eyelid area. However, the swelling is usually not severe and will disappear within 5 days. If swelling occurs, use a cold pack to apply to the swollen area. Avoid touching the hair cell area (graft).
5. If itching occurs, do not scratch or pick at the area. You can rub gently, apply a cold compress, wash your hair, or take anti-itch medication.
6. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages for 48 hours.
7. Avoid hot weather and sunlight for the first week after surgery. If you must be outdoors, wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
8. Avoid strenuous exercise/swimming/sauna for 1 month.
9. During the first 2 weeks after eyebrow transplantation, be careful not to touch the transplanted area and be careful not to hit the eyebrows with any hard objects.
10. Eyebrow trimming can begin 14 days after surgery.

Cleaning step after eyebrow transplantation

• Clean the planting area with salt water for 1 week.
• After 1 week, use facial foam to lather and gently pat the area where the eyebrows were planted with your fingertips. Do not rub and leave for 1-2 minutes. Rinse with water carefully. Pat gently with a clean cloth. Do not rub.
• After 2 weeks, apply coconut oil and leave it on for 30 minutes, then gently rub off the scales.
• After 2 weeks of eyebrow transplant, start rubbing gently on the transplanted area. In the 3rd week, start rubbing harder and wash your face normally after 1 month.

Symptoms after eyebrow transplantation

• Scab
  The wound will dry and scab over within 2-3 days. During this period, the wound will look darker than usual and the scab will gradually fall off within 1-2 weeks.
• acne
  Acne may occur in the area where the eyebrows were transplanted and on the back of the head. This is caused by inflammation and blockage of the pores. Use acne medication. If the acne is large and inflamed, you can puncture it with a needle and apply the medication. It is recommended to wash your hair every day and avoid excessive sweating.
• Redness
  The redness of the eyebrows in the area where the hair was transplanted will gradually fade within 2-3 weeks, but in some cases it may take longer than 2-3 months. The wounds in the nape of the neck will gradually fade in color and will return to normal in 6 months.
• Numbness and tingling sensations in the scalp
  It is caused by nerve damage during the procedure. The numbness and tingling pain will disappear within 6 months.
• Shock loss
  The hair that is transplanted around the eyebrows and some hair around the nape of the neck will fall out. The hair will grow back in the 3rd-4th month.
